The Government led by Sorin Grindeanu was dismissed, following the parliamentary vote on the no-confidence motion tabled by the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Alliance for the Liberals and Democrats (ALDE).
The motion, initiated by PSD and ALDE against the Grindeanu Cabinet, was adopted with 241 votes in favor and 10 against. According to the Constitution, after this vote, Premier Sorin Grindeanu is dismissed and constitutional consultations for the formation of a new government will soon start.
President Klaus Iohannis is to hold consultations with parliamentary parties to nominate a candidate for the post of Prime Minister. The new PM will form a new cabinet with whom, alongside a governing program, will presented themselves in front of the Parliament for the investiture vote.
Today in the Parliament plenary, when results of the vote were announced, Sorin Grindeanu left the room.
Instead, PSD leaders remained and thanked the senators and MPs who voted for this no-confidence motion, including those who were sitting at the balconies and gave them support during the debates.
