The number of people who want to get vaccinated, especially among the elderly and vulnerable, will increase with the involvement of family physicians in anti-COVID-19 immunization.
This is the conviction of the coordinator of the National Campaign, doctor Valeriu Gheorghita: I think that an important element which will make a difference is vaccination through family doctors' offices, where access to people will increase, especially to the most vulnerable to vaccination and who had difficulties going to a vaccination center, those being at a certain distance away from them. Another essential element, from our point of view, is the trust that those people rightly have in their own doctor, in the family doctor, and in this way I think we will we manage to increase the number of vaccinated people among the vulnerable, among the elderly, through the involvement and support of colleagues in the family medicine network.
Vaccination in family doctors' offices would begin on May 4.
On Wednesday, members of the National Immunization Committee will have a meeting with their representatives.
So far, a little over 3.000 family doctors have expressed their willingness to participate in the vaccination campaign out of a total of about 10.900, RADIO ROMANIA NEWS reports.
