Two doctors specializing in anesthesia and intensive care at the "Sfantul Pantelimon" Emergency Hospital in Bucharest were detained on Wednesday, August 7, by prosecutors on charges of aggravated homicide in the case of the suspicious deaths at the ICU Department.
Two female doctors are suspected of causing the death of a critically ill patient in intensive care by abruptly reducing his dose of norepinephrine, an essential substance in intensive care, which helps maintain blood pressure.
A nurse was also arrested on charges of giving false testimony. The case of sudden deaths at the Bucharest hospital was reported in spring this year.
At the time, three investigations by the hospital's management, the Ministry of Health and the College of Doctors concluded without identifying any serious irregularities.
