The minesweeper "Lieutenant Dimitrie Nicolescu" (DM-29) docked safely on Friday, September 9, in the military port of Constanta, after suffering minor damage on Thursday evening following the explosion of a sea mine discovered in the Black Sea and which was to be neutralized, without registering casualties, informed the General Staff of the Naval Forces (SMFN).
According to Agerpres, in the next period the ship is to be repaired in a shipyard.
According to the General Staff of the Naval Forces, the dredger moved, on September 8, to the maritime district where there was a drifting sea mine reported by the GSP ship "Falcon".
"After the impact with the sea mine, produced on the night of September 8, as a result of the unfavorable weather conditions in the respective maritime district, the ship's crew intervened to plug the water hole and to limit the effects of seawater entering the damaged compartment. Later, the military ship carried out the return march to the military port of Constanta, with the support of the maritime intervention tug "Grozavul" with divers and the maritime tug "Viteazu", which provided assistance and research against mines", according to a press release sent by SMFN.
The 75 soldiers of the ship's crew arrived safely in the Constanta military port.
