The main political parties reacted after the Constitutional Court's decision.
RRA correspondent Amalia Bojescu summarized the opinions expressed: "PSD President Marcel Ciolacu says that the decision of the Constitutional Court is the only correct solution after the desecration of the documents from the CSAT meeting, which show that the result of the Romanian vote was blatantly distorted as a result of Russia's intervention. He says the authorities' investigations must show who the culprits are for the attempt to massively influence the outcome of the presidential election, adding that the appointment of the new pro-European government is an important signal for the economic environment and foreign investors, given the worrying reactions over the past two weeks.
PNL will also abide by the Constitutional Court's decision, which it says was taken amid allegations of election meddling and serious damage to the electoral process. The Liberals believe Romania must maintain the credibility of the electoral process by sanctioning violations of electoral law and urge calm and rational discussions.
A reaction also came from AUR leader George Simion, who believes the CC is throwing the country into chaos. In his opinion, a coup d'état is in full swing and he launched a message on a social network urging Romanians not to be provoked and not to take to the streets. The president of the SOS Romania party, Diana Iovanovici-Sosoaca, is also talking on a social network about a coup d'état following the Constitutional Court's decision. UDMR considers the Constitutional Court's decision to be unprecedented, and state institutions need to come up with more information about this decision in order to restore citizens' trust."
