The 24th EU-Gulf Cooperation Council Joint Council and Ministerial meeting
Bogdan Aurescu will present Romania’s stand as regards the regional evolutions with an emphasis on the situation in Iraq and Syria and the fight against terrorism.

Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu will travel to Doha, Qatar, on Sunday 24 May on the occasion of the 24th EU-Gulf Cooperation Council Joint Council and Ministerial meeting.
The meeting is co-chaired by the EI High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini and Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting focuses on the latest evolutions in the extended Middle East area and the fight against terrorism, the Islamic State organisation included.

The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf often referred to as the GCC, is a regional organisation, with six members: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Set up in 1981, its objectives are to enhance coordination, integration and inter-connection among its members.
The EU established bilateral relations with the GCC countries through the 1988 Cooperation Agreement, providing for the development of closer cooperation on issues such as energy, transport, research and innovation, and the economy.
