Romanian gold miners in Romanian town of Roşia Montană who staged a five-day protest underground against plans to halt development of the site ended their sit-in on Sunday after the country's PM Victor Ponta went into the mine to meet them.

Other mass protests were reported in other Romanian towns and around the world on Sunday while a 15 day protest was reported in the country's capital Bucharest.
More than 10,000 protesters blocked the city center as they called for the government to reject the plan.
Debates concerning the Roşia Montană project was a political game as a special law against a company was unconstitutional, Romanian President Traian Băsescu said on Sunday.
