The European Commission has launched proceedings to sanction Romania for environmental issues and rail transport.
Notices on environmental issues relate to failure to comply with European legislation in the case of landfills and the cleaning of two tailing ponds in Moldova Noua mining, which represent a serious risk to human health and the environment.
Regarding transport, the Commission requires our country to practice fair rates for railway infrastructure use and to ensure the financial viability of the infrastructure manager.
If within two months after receiving the notice Romania does not act properly, the Commission may refer the case to the Court of Justice.
