Romania wants an increase in NATO's political and military role, Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu said in Brussels at a meeting of Member States' heads of diplomacy.
He said that the most important topic on the agenda is the new strategy of the Alliance, and Romania supports the proposals made in this regard by Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
Minister Aurescu added that this process is an opportunity for the Alliance to strengthen the security of the Euro-Atlantic area, including on the eastern flank.
The Secretary-General of the Alliance noted that the global challenges facing Member States include Russia's destabilizing actions, terrorism, cyber attacks, nuclear proliferation and China's rise.
