On Thursday, Romania's Constitutional Court ordered a recount of all ballot papers from the first round of the presidential elections, after receiving complaints requesting the annulment of the vote.
By unanimous vote, Court judges decided to ask for the rechecking and recount of all ballot papers containing the valid and invalid votes cast in the November 24 elections.
The Central Electoral Office for the Presidential Elections has until tomorrow at 14:00 to send the results of the rechecking and recounting process to the Constitutional Court, when the Court is scheduled to meet again.
The judges' decision follows a request by Cristian Terhes to annul the first round of voting, who claimed that the votes received by Ludovic Orban had been counted for Elena Lasconi.
At the same time, the judges of the Constitutional Court rejected, also by a unanimous vote, as out of time, the request of Sebastian Popescu, presidential candidate of the New Romania Party, to annul the first round of the presidential elections.
