EU executive has approved the release of 182 million euros from the fund, the largest amount of money, namely 105 million euros, will be allocated to Poland.
The money will be used for rebuilding the infrastructure destroyed by the floods that have devastated this country in May and June, leaving behind damages estimated at 2.3 billion euros.
Other beneficiaries will be Hungary (22.5 million euros), Slovakia( 20.4 million euros), Czech Republic( 5 million euros) and Croatia, a candidate country for EU accession ( 4 million euros).
These amounts must be approved by the European Council and the European Parliament, most likely early next year so that payments begin in March.
The European Union Solidarity Fund, created in 2002, helps countries affected by major natural disasters resulted in damages that exceed a threshold established for each state.
