Next week, carmaker Renault will suspend production in several units due to a global shortage of semiconductors.
This will affect a factory in France, but also the two in Romania and Morocco, which will not manufacture cars for a few days.
The chip crisis, which has affected other companies such as Fiat, Opel, Chrysler, Citroen, Ford, Toyota and Volkswagen, started from the growing demand from laptop and mobile phone manufacturers.
The situation of the Dacia factory in Mioveni (part of the Renault group) was discussed by the administration with the Minister of Labor.
Raluca Turcan states that she will ask the Parliament to amend the legislation that allows companies in difficult situations to benefit from the subsidy of employees' salaries.
In this sense, the Ministry of Labor proposes that the work schedule should be modified whenever the situation requires it, and by doing this, the reduction of working time can reach even 80%.
