The largest tour operator in the world, the German group TUI, is dissatisfied with the services and prices in the Romanian seaside resorts which they consider too high.
Being at the Berlin Tourism Fair, the Minister of Tourism, Elena Udrea, had a meeting with the German tour operator TUI. According to the Minister, the Romanian authorities intend to extend the cooperation with the German group for more destinations, one of which is Bukovina.
They emphasized that product prices in the Romanian seaside resorts were very high and unjustified. In reply, Elena Udrea said that the seaside problems were being solved with difficulty, because the hotel owners did not want to open the units throughout the entire summer season. ‘It's very hard to solve the problem of the short summer season as long as hotel owners, after asking for the units to remain open from 1 May until 30 September, they give up this rule’, she said.
Elena Udrea added that tourism on the seaside ‘does not evolve according to the market requests’, but ‘according to the interests of each operator’, national interest not being a priority.
Romania is represented at the Fair of Tourism in the German capital by 50 exhibitors.
International Tourism Exchange in Berlin is considered the largest event of its kind in the world.
