President of Bucharest Chamber of Commerce sentenced to four year prison
Judges ordered seizure of almost 2,5 million lei from Chamber of Commerce for the use of false documents in carrying out EU-funded projects.

President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bucharest (CCIB), Sorin Dimitriu, was sentenced by Bucharest Court to four years in prison for several criminal offences in a file involving fraud with European funds.
For five years starting from now, Dimitriu is forbidden to be part of institution’s board, and has to pay a fine of 70,000 lei, for damaging the financial interests of the European Union.
Judges also ordered seizure of almost 2,5 million lei from Chamber of Commerce for the use of false documents in carrying out EU-funded projects in the field of human resources.
Court's decision may be appealed.
