President Iohannis at informal EU defense meeting

On Monday, President Klaus Iohannis will attend the informal meeting of European Union leaders on defense issues in Brussels.

The Head of State will support the need for the European Union to assume greater responsibility for its own defense, in complementarity with NATO, which remains the foundation of Euro-Atlantic security, according to a press release from the Presidential Administration.

The program of the meeting includes, in addition to consultations in the format of the leaders of the Member States, the usual exchange of views with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and a meeting with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer.
