New driving licenses since January 2013
Since 2013 drivers of mopeds (scooters) and ATVs will be obliged to have driving licenses.

In January 2013, all the subcategories listed on license become categories and it is introduced the obligation to have a driving license for drivers of mopeds (scooters) and ATVs.
The new driving licenses will have harmonized codes with the existing ones in the European Union and will contain data about medical issues of motorists, periods of restriction in certain time slots or any technical information about motor vehicles said to RRA, Gino Boşman, Chief Commissioner of Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicles Registration.
Future traffic cards preserves the shape of current documents but on front II (back) will be included helpful information to police road: medical aspects such as view corrections , hearing aids or prostheses, certain restrictions on daytime driving in the first hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset.
The same code will give technical information about any vehicle, gearbox, clutch, accelerator and braking mechanisms, or devices.
Entry into service of new driving licenses will be made with effect from 19 January 2013, while those issued before that date will be recognized until the expiry of their period of validity.
If no legislative changes will occur, at the replacement of driving licenses will not be mandatory set of medical examinations.
According to the draft Order Minister of the Ministry of Administration and Internal Affairs (MAI) was displayed for public debate motor bikes which develops a velocity of up to 25 km/h are the only vehicles for which will not be compulsory license.
