Hundreds of thousands of Romanian volunteers took part, on Saturday, September 15, in waste collection actions all across the country, thus joining the National Cleanup Day, organized by local social movement "Let's do it, Romania!".
This is the sixth time that such an event takes place in Romania. In 2018, campaign was launched in Băicoi, Prahova County, by Romanian Minister of the Environment, Graţiela Gavrilescu:: We want people to learn how to collect selectively so as to demonstrate to other EU countries that Romanians want a clean country and want to live in a clean environment and in a healthy environment. Taking into account that from 1 January 2019 selective collection is mandatory, it is a first sign that we need to take care of the natural resource, so today, September 15, I call on all Romanians to take part and continue this action.
National Cleanup Day has been part of the World Cleanup Day, with 150 countries joining this global social action, with the goal to mobilize as much people as possible to produce a change in behavior towards resources and generated waste.
