Strengthening the Strategic Partnership with the United States and enhancing Romania’s role and efficiency in the European Union and NATO remain the fundamental goals of Romania’s foreign policy, President Iohannis said on Tuesday, on the Annual Meeting of the Romanian Diplomacy.
Romania's foreign policy is not a place for questionable personal experiments, amateurism and diplomatic blunders, said Iohannnis, adding that these harm national interests and goals. Stability and predictability of foreign policy are essential to Romania's credibility, he declared.
In Year of the Centenary, it is not acceptable for Romania to take steps back in terms of justice and the rule of law, Iohannis said.
Head of Atate also referred to Romania's Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first semester of 2019 and said that for these six months, national interest would be to work for the consolidation of the Union.
Romania has the opportunity to create a long-term positive image among European partners, President Klaus Iohannis underlined.
