RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu reaffirmed the Government's firm commitment to efforts to combat anti-Semitism, xenophobia, discrimination and hate speech, to preserve the memory of the past and to condemn the denial of the Holocaust, on the occasion of the commemoration of 82 years of the Iasi pogrom. He shows that the events that took place then and the tragic consequences of the extremist manifestations of that period impose on us now the duty of honor for history to be recognized and assumed, so as not to be repeated. A "March of Life" took place in Iasi, where six candles were lit in memory of the six million Jews killed during the Second World War. The Ambassador of the State of Israel in Romania, Reuven Azar, also participated.
Reuven Azar: "We all have the moral duty to remember the lessons of history, to learn from them, to understand the dangers of such an ideology and to take the necessary measures to prevent its repetition. Only by accepting the past can we build our future. Romania is a good friend of the State of Israel and one of the countries that makes constant efforts to take responsibility for the past."
We remind you that between June 28 and July 6, 1941, on the streets of Iasi, in the yard of the former Police Station and in the so-called 'death trains', thousands of Jews were murdered by order of the government led by Ion Antonescu.
