Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has welcomed, today, at the Cotroceni Palace, European Commission Vice-President for the Euro and Social Dialogue, Valdis Dombrovskis.
They discussed issues related in particular to the future of the Economic and Monetary Union, as well as to Romania's accession to the Eurozone.
Romania supports the process of further strengthening the Economic and Monetary Union and, for Romania, the future of the Euro Area is of particular importance, given Romania's strategic objective of adopting the Euro as quickly as possible, President Iohannis said.
In turn, EC Vice-President informed of the Commission’s intention to present in December this year a package of proposals on strengthening the EU Economic and Monetary Union.
Package will also include a proposal to create a financial assistance instrument for Member States wishing to join the Euro, Romanian Presidential Administration states in a press release.
EC Vice-President’s visit to Bucharest includes attendance to the Conference entitled "Favorable Growth of Social Inclusion - Challenges and Opportunities" organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Romania.
In Bucharest, European Commissioner also has scheduled meetings with Romanian Public Finance Minister, Ionuţ Mişa, with Governor of the Romanian National Bank, Mugur Isărescu and with social partners - informs the European Commission Representation in Bucharest.
