Romania is the country of the largest trade fair of organic products, BIOFAC, held these days in Nürnberg in Germany.
By Saturday, at the fair is expected around 50,000 visitors who can taste the products presented by almost 2,500 exhibitors from over 100 countries.
Our country is represented by 55 exhibitors in the organic sector; the event being supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Ecological Agriculture Operators Association, BioRomania.
Association President, Marian Cioceanu, said to "Morning Call" at Radio Romania Actualitati that it is necessary to develop processing sector of organic products to avoid Romanian raw organic materials export and their return in the form of processed products abroad at a much higher price.
"Unfortunately, all the Romanian public, the Romanian consumers perceive the organic product as an expensive one, rightly it is expensive because we export wheat in Germany, there are manufactured biscuits and we import crackers from Germany, made of Romanian wheat, back to Romania, but often is a rule, we do not know why, but it is a rule, that is trade.
"Biscuits in Romania are more expensive than organic shops in Germany and then the Romanian public says" yes, good organic products must be good, but they are very expensive. "
