Chamber Music SoNoRo Festival arrives in Cluj

Chamber Music SoNoRo Festival, this year at its 13th edition (SIDE EFFECTS), is in Cluj-Napoca on Thursday, 15 November, to perform, starting with 19:00, Rhapsodie Roumaine, a premiere at the National Bank of Romania, Cluj Branch, and masterpieces of Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Erwin Schulhoff, Igor Stravinsky and Jean Sibelius.
Project entitled Rhapsodie Roumaine, launched in January 2018 at the Musikverein Hall of Vienna, had a fulminating development throughout the year, including performances hosted by the most important concert halls in Europe. Under the tour, SoNoRo Festival launched the “Rhapsodie Roumaine” CD, to celebrate the Centenary of the Great Union. CD includes the most known compositions by George Enescu and Béla Bartók, inspired by the Romanian folklore.
On Friday, 16 November, SoNoRo will continue in Cluj-Napoca with four concerts: NewYork Counterpoint at Casa Boema, Capricio Sextet at the Reformed Church, or Grande Sestetto Concertante by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the Aula of the Babes-Bolyai University.
On a national tour started in Bucharest on 2 November and continued in Timișoara (13-14 November), SoNoRo will leave Cluj-Napoca and head for Brașov (19 November), and then Sibiu (20 November). Under the name of SIDE EFFECTS, Festival provides the audience with an eclectic mixture of artistic performances. Vertigo, Lunatique, Hangover, Something borrowed-Something blue, Crimes of passions or Del amor y otros demonios are just a few titles of the concerts, each of them proposing a spectacular program, performed by some of the most appreciated artists of the world.
Răzvan Popovici, SoNoRo Festival Executive Director: SIDE EFFECTS is the title through which we aim to conquer you, convince you and, as usual, surprise you. For the first time at SoNoRo Festival, Romanian audience have the opportunity to meet violinists Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova, Anna-Liisa Bezrodny and Jonian Kadesha, violinist Meghan Cassidy, cellists Kyrill Zlotnikov and Jan-Erik Gustaffson or pianist Marianna Schirinyan.
SoNoRo cultural platform includes the SoNoRo Festival (13 years), SoNoRo-Interferente, the scholarship and workshop program for young musicians (12 years), SoNoRo On Tour (11 years), SoNoRo Arezzo (8 years), SoNoRo Conac, the series of season concerts hosted by heritage buildings in Romania (6 years).
SoNoRo is a member of the European Festivals Association.
SoNoRo concerts took place in some of the most renowned halls of the world, such as Wigmore Hall in London, Konzerthaus in Vienna, YMCA in Jerusalem, and Carnegie Hall in New York.
