The President of the Romanian Senate, Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu, has discussed today with the new French Ambassador in Bucharest, Mrs.Michele Ramis, showing openness for a direct dialogue that can ensure the sustained development of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and France.
Tăriceanu expressed his hope that the new decision-makers in Paris will continue to strengthen the European construction and to jointly identify the means of enhanced bilateral cooperation, also taking into account Romania’s preparations to ensure the European Union Presidency.
The French Ambassador expressed wish for intensified cooperation among cultural institutes and for the development of bilateral economic relations, with a strong emphasis on the defense industry.
The French diplomat also discussed with the Romanian Minister of Economy, Mihai Fifor, focusing on the Sovereign Development and Investment Fund and the listed projects. The Romanian Minister said that the Fund would finance projects such as the Pitești-Sibiu highway.
