RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - Romania wants to build a real strategic partnership with Hungary, Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu said today, after meeting in Bucharest with his Budapest counterpart, Peter Szijjarto.
At the same time, Hungary and Romania are examining increasing the capacity of the cross-border gas interconnector to over three billion cubic meters per year.
Bogdan Aurescu: “We must continue to increase our gas interconnection capacity, we must strengthen our storage capacities within the EU. We also need to find alternative sources and focus on renewable energy, nuclear energy.”
Reporter: Oana Bala - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, reminded of the high level of trade between the two countries, but also of the good neighborly relations.
Peter Szijjarto: “We believe that, as neighbors, we can help each other to cope with the challenges we face. Trade last year surpassed any record. This 11 billion euros means an unprecedented size and the 30% increase, which can be seen so far, shows the same trajectory."
Reporter: On the other hand, the head of diplomacy in Budapest said that his country will continue to help refugees from Ukraine, but will ban the access of illegal immigrants.
