The army is participating this month in three of NATO's eight battle groups on the eastern flank, the Defense Ministry announced.
In addition to the mission in Poland, in which the army has participated since 2017, Romanian servicemen are now also part of the battle groups hosted in Slovakia, with an anti-tank detachment, and Bulgaria, with a research detachment.
More than 150 Romanian soldiers and their equipment are taking part in the North Atlantic Alliance's battle groups, reflecting Romania's firm commitment to strengthening collective defense on the Eastern flank, the ministry said.
Over 1.000 Romanian soldiers are deployed around the world in various missions and operations.
