Iohannis added that Vice-President Naidu is accompanied by a large business delegation and mentioned that he encouraged boosting economic relations and Indian investment in Romania.

"We also agreed that priority should be given to development, co-operation in the areas of culture, education and tourism, areas that have demonstrated throughout the history of the traditional relations between Romania and India that they are true friendship bridges", Head of State said.

In turn, India's Vice-President spoke about increasing and diversification of relations between the two countries. He stressed that talks with the Head of the Romanian State were productive and meaningful.

Venkaiah M.Naidu: Romania's Presidency of the EU Council will have a positive effect and we have all expectations that Romania will succeed to successfully perform its mandate. India is a traditional friend of Romania and we are anxious to intensify cross-border cooperation and friendship relations and to see that our countries cooperate successfully in the future.
