United States Government is concerned about the legislative package that could undermine the independence of the Judiciary and the anti-corruption fight in Romania.
The United States took note with concern that the Romanian Parliament is discussing a legislative package that could undermine the fight against corruption and weaken the independence of the Justice system in Romania.
A press statement published on the US Department of State website shows that this package of laws, originally proposed by the Romanian Ministry of Justice, threatens the progress that has been made in the recent years by Romania to build strong legal institutions, defended by political interference.
US Department of State recommends the Romanian Parliament to reject proposals that affect the rule of law and jeopardize the fight against corruption.
