The National Bank of Romania will put into circulation a banknote with a face value of 20 lei, starting with December 1, 2021. The new banknote will be presented to the public in a press conference held by the Governor of the National Bank, Mugur Isarescu, on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 12 noon.
This is the first banknote with circulating power on which a female personality is present: Ecaterina Teodoroiu.
The banknote with a face value of 20 lei is printed on polymer, with dimensions of 136 x 77 mm and predominantly olive green color.
In order to protect against counterfeiting, the banknote includes a number of security features - some intended for the public, others detectable with special equipment, for workers in the banking system.
The banknote with a face value of 20 lei will be put into circulation through the regional branches of Bucharest, Cluj, Constanta, Dolj, Iasi and Timis of the National Bank of Romania, on the occasion of making cash payments to credit institutions / State Treasury.
