The first tram pulled by horses in Romania, which it has been all over on the streets from Timişoara in premiere, in July,1869,"the Twins",the rail-car, Timiş tram, touring tram, plough-tram and other vehicles of the period-have had today guests at the Tram Museum in Timişoara which has organised the "open ports" day.
The event is occasioned with the European mobility week and proposes to encourage the people from Timişoara to travel by tram in order to reduce the pollution caused by vehicles.
The tourists and the residents were invited to see one of the most in general ecological ways of transport which it is furthermore the star of the presentation: a carriage pulled by horses, made in 1869,whichhas marked a national premiere in Timişoara, Urbea from Bega, being the first locality from our country who sets the tram pulled by horses going.
This true technical jewel was restored and it is still functional, and at the great festal occasions it was driven out on streets, to the delight of children and old people.
Onetime, in Timişoara, there has been all over 26 such trams with horses, each with 16places which however it had a disadvantage: a travelling between Fabric and Iosefin districts has been outlasting one hour and a half.
The salvation came in 1899 when it appeared the electric tram and reduced the travelling at 32 minutes between the two historical districts.
