rosecutor General's interim leadership presented today the balance for last year in the absence of the press.

The new assessment shows that the number of cases handled by prosecutors in the past five years has increased by 27 percent.

DNA and DIICOT have a constant number of indictments while fewer occurred in prosecutors' offices attached to judges, Court of Appeal and the Military Prosecutor.

Among the system of unresolved issues remain the insufficient human resources and workload.

Increasing the number of prosecutors is not enough, if solutions are not found on the underlying causes large increase of cases filed, the report said.

The document also notes that should be abolished Parquet units with low volume of activity, given the huge discrepancies from 1,500 cases assigned to a prosecutor at 200-300 at the same time.

The balance also shows that the value of precautionary measures imposed by prosecutors has increased from 2007 to 2012 by 180 percent and thus reached 1.870 billion confiscated lei.

The activity of the Public Ministry was constantly evaluated within the European experts’assessments.
