Prime Minister-designate Nicolae Ciuca has officially resigned.
The letter by which the appointed prime minister, Nicolae Ciucă, announced the Parliament that he is resigning his mandate was registered Tuesday morning at the Chamber of Deputies.
Under these conditions, the hearings of the candidates for the position of minister, originally scheduled for yesterday, were canceled, and, obviously, the investiture vote is no longer reached.
Nicolae Ciuca made this decision because he failed to obtain support with the mandate received from PNL, that of a minority cabinet.
Thus, PNL decided to make the negotiating mandate more flexible, which means that the doors for the discussions with the Save Romania Union (USR) and the Social Democratic Party (PSD) are reopened.
USR spokesman, Ionut Mosteanu, declared that the National Liberal Party (PNL) must officially announce if it wants to rebuild the governing coalition, and solutions regarding this can be found:
Ionut Mosteanu: I saw some statements from some PNL leaders and some PSD leaders, who seemed to understand each other a bit. We will see these days what is happening and what is their option, whether they are understood or not. We have the readiness to rebuild this center-right coalition. I know that there have been talks of those votes of Ludovic Orban, Ludovic Orban announced in all public statements that he supports the restoration of the center-right alliance, so I expect him and those next to him to vote for a PNL-USR-UDMR government.
Yesterday afternoon, the PNL had a meeting in which it was establish with which party it wants to form a majority and, of course, a government.
He must also establish a prime minister name.
According to some political sources, in the PNL the opinions are divided regarding the composition of a future majority, but there are several who want a collaboration with PSD.
