Romania supports a comprehensive, peaceful and sustainable settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Meleșcanu said today at a meeting with Franco Frattini, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transdniestrian Settlement Process, accompanied by the new Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Claus Neukirch.
Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to recent agreements in the so-called "Berlin Plus Agreement" and stressed that Romania will continue to pay special attention to monitoring the implementation of commitments related to the situation of schools using teaching in Latin-script in the Transdniestrian region.
Withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova, without the consent of the host state, has also been discussed.
