Romania has absorbed 80% of the European money for transport infrastructure, and the relevant minister, Sorin Grindeanu, estimates that there are chances to reach one hundred percent.
He specified that the remaining billion euros would go to a series of ongoing projects, such as the construction of the new terminal for departures from Timisoara Airport, where the signing of the contract scheduled for yesterday was postponed due to an appeal.
Sorin Grindeanu, Minister of Transport: We are talking about the Large Infrastructure Operational Program (POIM), which ends at the end of next year. We are talking about about one billion euros that remain available until the end of next year on all projects and then it is a race against the clock for each of these projects, to complete them faster, in order to benefit from this European funding. The Ministry of Transport will probably reach one hundred percent in the middle of next year. At the moment we are somewhere at 80% absorption, the difference of 1 billion being the one that remains available.
