Romanian authorities find Russian Foreign Intelligence Service's allegations intolerable

Russia accuses the European Union of having blackmailed Romania to block Calin Georgescu's candidacy for president.
However, the authorities in Bucharest categorically reject the Russian spies' allegations, which they consider intolerable and part of the Russian Federation's strategy to undermine the democratic system in Romania.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu says it is intolerable for a Russian secret service to take a stance against decisions by Romanian authorities, while the Foreign Ministry says the allegations are part of a series of hybrid actions by Moscow to undermine democracy in Romania.
USR leader Elena Lasconi hopes that the Foreign Ministry will call the Russian ambassador for explanations and declare persona non grata in Romania some Russian diplomats who are not exactly diplomats.
According to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Brussels is waging a war against European leaders who openly support Donald Trump, such as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and Romanian presidential candidate Calin Georgescu.
Without providing any proof, the Russian service claims that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen asked the Bucharest authorities to ban Georgescu from running in the May presidential elections, warning that if he did not, she would restrict Romania's access to European funds.
The same kind of message was recently conveyed by Calin Georgescu in an interview with journalist James Freeman, in which he said that a referendum should be organized on Romania's exit from the European Union and NATO, because now "our country is a slave to Brussels".
