Romania, premiere: The threshold for covid infections has exceeded 5.000

Romania has crossed the threshold of 5.000 infections per day for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic, RRA reports, quoted by Rador.
Specifically, from yesterday until today, 5.028 new cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed from over 35.000 tests performed. 685 new infections were registered in Bucharest, which remains on the first place in the daily reporting, followed, today, by Timis with 333 cases and Cluj with 273. Iasi reported today 268 new infections, and Brasov 233.
Today, a new record was set for the number of patients admitted to Intensive Care Units. There are 782 in ICU's out of over 10.400 people hospitalized with COVID-19.
The number of deaths decreased slightly compared to yesterday - 82 recorded in the balance-sheet at noon.
Regarding the incidence of the infections per thousand inhabitants in the last 14 days, Harghita County today exceeds the threshold of three cases per thousand inhabitants, which is also the case for Cluj, the Capital and Alba. Sibiu, Timisoara and Piatra Neamt were added today to the list of county capitals in which the incidence of infections with the new coronavirus exceeded three per thousand inhabitants cumulated in 14 days.
The county committees for emergency situations introduce new restrictions regarding the activities in closed spaces and the operation of the educational units. It must also be said that wearing a protective mask is mandatory in open and closed public spaces in most parts of the country.
