RADIO ROMANIA NEWS (October 16, 7:10 a.m.) - Radiojournal - Editor: Online sales of goods and services generate over 3% of Romania's Gross Domestic Product, reports the Romanian Association of Online Stores, citing data from the European E-commerce 2023 report. Thus, Romania ranks third in Central and Eastern Europe and 12th in the entire European continent, from this point of view. Nicoleta Stoian comes with more information.
Reporter: Romania's e-commerce sector dominates the market in Eastern Europe, generating almost 60% of sales in the region. The turnover, this year, is estimated at almost 10 billion euros. 94% of Romanian buyers prefer to order online from our stores in the country, but 21% also ordered from foreign stores.
At European level, the most ordered products online are those in the clothing, footwear and clothing accessories category, followed by books, CDs, DVDs, restaurant deliveries and cosmetics or beauty products. The Romanian Association of Online Stores also states that, in the last three years, prices in the online environment have generally recorded an evolution below the inflation rate.
Thus, in the first part of this year, significant drops were observed in the price of food products, such as milk, sunflower oil or flour.
