European diplomatic sources, cited by our correspondent Luminița Apostol, confirmed that the Protocol has been signed by the ambassadors of the two countries as well as EU, after they arrived at a compromise during the night between Wednesday and Tuesday.
The Protocol text will be published only after it will be analyzed and approved by the president Traian Băsescu and also by the rest of the European leaders at the reunion from Tuesday evening of the spring European Council, and it is expected that Serbia receives the statute of candidate to EU.
In a declaration presented Thursday, Romania sustained that it is necessary the implication of European Committee and also of the High Representative of Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) for national minorities in order to monitor the way in which Serbia respects the minorities’ rights.
