President rejects request to dismiss DNA Head

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis rejected, on Monday, Justice Minister’s request to dismiss the Head of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), Laura Codruta Kovesi.

This request had already received a negative opinion from the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), Iohannis said in a press conference.

"The reasons for the revocation have not been able to convince me, they mostly do not correspond to the legal provisions and therefore I will not comply with this request for revocation", Klaus Iohannis stated.

President also stressed that the CSM’s opinion refusing the Justice Minister's report could not be ignored and that he also relied on the analysis made by the specialized Departments within the Presidential Administration.
