General Manager of Constanţa Shipyard (SNC), Radu Rusen, and Vice-President for International Development of French Naval Group Consortium, Pascal Le Roy, have signed a strategic partnership, on Friday, in Constanţa to support a technical, economic and financial offer for the construction of multirole military corvettes for the Romanian Naval Forces.

Following a documentary visit to the assembly halls and to the construction docks of the SNC in the Constanţa Port, the two partners, accompanied by French Ambassador to Bucharest, Michele Ramis, and President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mihai Daraban, have held speeches related to this future collaboration.

Partnership agreement provides for joint participation of the two industrial entities at the call of tender for the design and construction of multi-role corvettes for the endowment of the Romanian Naval Forces – that is to be organized by the Ministry of National Defense, General Director of SNC, Radu Rusen, said. Warships are to be built in Constanţa on the basis of technology transfer from the Naval Group to the Romanian partner, he added.

In turn, Naval Group Vice-President, Pascal Le Roy, emphasized the importance of technology transfer to the Romanian partner and the fact that this would mean an indirect gain for the Romanian industry. "The industrial group that I represent, a group where Constanţa Shipyard has now joined, is the sole holder of such a technology for the military industry that has been successfully used in war theaters and is participating in the call of tender for the construction of Romanian corvettes", said Le Roy, quoted by Agerpres.

President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mihai Daraban, expressed trust in the collaboration between the two industrial groups. "Of all the companies that have submitted offers to the Ministry of National Defense, Naval Group is the only one to manufacture products that have participated in military action. Recently, missiles were launched off the Mediterranean towards Syrian targets from French ships built by this group", said Mihai Daraban.

Ambassador Michele Ramis said she attended the event at the Constanţa Shipyard in an official capacity. "I am very happy to visit Constanţa Shipyard and I am a guarantor of the fact that the French State supports Naval Group, main contractor of the French Navy, in its efforts to provide the best naval platforms to the Romanian Navy. France and Romania are engaged in strategies that cover several areas. France proposes a long-lasting partnership, as President Emanuele Macron pointed out at his visit in August 2017", said Michele Ramis.
