Over 160.000 students to benefit from resilience grants

More than 160.000 students will benefit from resilience scholarships worth 300 lei from the fall.
These are students who have an overall average above 7 and do not receive a merit scholarship.
These are in addition to the financial incentives already awarded to students for outstanding academic merit, Olympic excellence, or for reducing dropout rates.
The resilience grants will be awarded from the fall to pre-university schoolchildren, to incentivize them to learn better.
However, there are more conditions to be met for students to qualify for the money. They must have an overall average above 7, a top grade in behavior, no more than 10 unexcused absences per month, and in addition, students must be in the top 30% of their class, which includes those with an average of 9.50 or above who receive a merit scholarship.
The resilience scholarship will be calculated according to the number of days of vacation and classes and will thus not be worth 300 lei each month.
Also, these scholarships will be awarded only during school time, not during vacations, as is the case with social scholarships, Olympic excellence scholarships and scholarships for underage mothers.
On the other hand, resilience scholarships will also be available for students with oncological or chronic diseases, who are in school for more than four weeks in a so-called hospital or home school.
Also from the school year starting on September 9, pupils aged up to 30 who are not in the labor market and enrolled in part-time or "second chance" educational programs will also receive a social grant.
