A law on stray dog status was adopted in the lower house of Romania's Parliament on Tuesday two days after intensive talks between legislators in both houses.

A law on stray dog status was adopted in the lower house of Romania's Parliament on Tuesday two days after intensive talks between legislators in both houses.
The euthanasia is allowed though not cumpulsory in case local authorities could cover a larger number of stray dogs, according to to the project.
The draft project approved by the Parliament's Committee for Legal and Administration Affairs on the matter was welcomed by both Governing Parties and Opposition legislators, RADIO ROMANIA reported.
A stray dog can be claimed or adopted freely in a 14 working day term while the autorities may approve the euthanasia in case of poor resources or housing.
