The representatives of the Government and those of the education unions will continue negotiations on Monday on the topic of the increase in education salaries from January 1.
Yesterday's discussion with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu ended without a clear result, and the unions announced that they will organize protest actions if an agreement is not reached. Andrei Serban reports.
Trade unionists believe that education wages will increase from 1 January 2024, as promised by the Government, and their calculations say that this increase could be as much as 20 percent.
At the Victoria Palace meeting with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and the Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, no clear conclusion was reached.
The trade unionists also said that, for now, the salary scale for education is not ready and that they will continue discussions at the Ministries of Education, Labor and Finance.
Marius Nistor, president of the Federation of Education Unions "Spiru Haret": We are going to clarify, because it is also a collaboration with the Ministry of Finance. It cannot be just something that is negotiated at the level of the Ministry of Education and at the level of the Ministry of Labour. In the situation where we are not going to get along with the Government, we will quickly communicate which forms of protest we will resort to. At the moment we are in full negotiation, which will determine very clearly what happens from January 1.
Reporter: Marius Nistor did not rule out the possibility of a new strike in education, if the trade unionists find that they have not reached an agreement with the Government.
