Institutions with responsibilities in the field of public order and safety continue to act to prevent and combat the spread of COVID-19 in Romania.

Last week, over 12.000 sanctions were imposed building up to a total amount of almost five million lei. In the last 24 hours, in Bucharest and in Ilfov and Constanta counties only, the fines applied for non-compliance with protection measures amounted to over 250.000 lei.

RRA editor Arina Petrovici made a synthesis on this topic.

Arina Petrovici: Bucharest police officers issued over 50 fines, amounting to more than 120.000 lei. The amount of sanctions applied for non-compliance with individual pandemic protection measures, meaning non-use of the mask in closed public spaces in commercial spaces and at work, exceeded 28.000. Last night, over 120 police officers from the General Police Directorate of Bucharest Municipality acted to verify the compliance of the measures established through the state of alert to prevent the spread of SARS-COV-2. Also, in Ilfov county more than 200 police officers imposed fines of almost 90.000 lei following check-ups on compliance with health protection measures and physical distance in all crowded areas. In Constanta county, in the last 24 for hours, the police and gendarmes sanctioned companies and individuals with over 40.000 lei.
