Beautiful, wide, natural sandy beaches of the Romanian resorts at the Black Sea are now crowded with tourists, as the weather is excellent and the sea water temperature is perfect for bathing.

Summer vibe is electric and tourists enjoy both day and night entertainments, as this is peak season when all kinds of live beach TV shows, musical concerts, dancing rings with all kinds of musical rhythms and countless sport events are taking place, not to mention preparations for the approaching and most-expected Day of the Romanian Naval Forces (on 15 August), according to RRA correspondent in Constanta, Sorin Cealera.

Stretching from the UNESCO-protected Danube Delta (in the north) all the way down to the Bulgarian border, Romania’s estimated 200 km Black Sea coastline has a lot to offer, from quiet, family-friendly destinations for those who want to relax to party-centric Mamaia, one of the most important and most expensive resorts, which usually attracts wealthy young people who want to spend the summer holiday partying.

Elegant hotels with spectacular view, restaurants, cafes, terraces, pubs, luxurious clubs that stay open all night long, shops and boutiques, beach concerts, summer sports, sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and scuba diving, visits to ports, museums or ancient ruins – all these come up with the wild beauty of the region.

Below are some of the most beautiful and attractive Romanian Black Seaside resorts:

Constanța

One of the largest cities in Romania, Constanța is an important cultural and economic center, worth exploring for its archaeological treasures and the atmosphere of the old town center. Its historical monuments, ancient ruins, grand Casino, museums and shops, and proximity to beach resorts make it the focal point of Black Sea coast tourism. Open-air restaurants, nightclubs and cabarets offer a wide variety of entertainment. Regional attractions include traditional villages, vineyards, ancient monuments and the Danube Delta, the best preserved delta in Europe. National History and Archaeology Museum is located in the old City Hall and has a very large collection of ancient art. Other tourist attractions are the Grand Casino, National History and Archaeology Museum, Romanian Navy Museum,The Great Mahmudiye Mosque, the Aquarium and the Dolphinarium.

Mamaia

Named “the most fashionable and dynamic resort” at Monaco International Clubbing Show, Mamaia prides itself with a nightlife scene that rivals Ibiza, Miami, and everything in between. Here things really get going at sunset, when the crowds start heading to stylish clubs lined along the beach, such as Loft, Café del Mar Mamaia, Puro Beach Black Sea and more, to dance till sunrise. This is where several of Bucharest’s famed nightclubs, such as Fratelli and Bamboo, move their residency for the summer, with a mix of good music and party vibes amid the beach, sea and sun.

Neptun

Neptun is not only an elegant family-friendly seaside destination, but also a renowned spa resort, cherished for its heliotherapy, thalassotherapy, and mud packing opportunities. Greenery abounds throughout, the air is rich in aerosols, and the well-equipped beaches have fine white sand. In addition to watersports, golf courses, and an amusement park, Neptun is home to countless hotels, shops, and restaurants, as well as an acclaimed medical clinic offering a selection of spa treatments and therapies using mud from the nearby Lake Techirghiol.

Costinești, Youth Resort

With a tremendous assortment of bars, restaurants, and clubs, it’s easy to party on a budget in Costinești. The lively village resort is home to a big, beautiful beach and lots of inexpensive accommodation options, which makes it especially popular among students and young people. Fast-food joints and no-frills open-air terraces line the village’s main street, and there are plenty of ambulant artists, beach concerts, and colorful souvenir shops to animate the atmosphere. Recreational opportunities are varied and plentiful, from hang gliding and astronomical observations to watersports like boating, paragliding, windsurfing, and even scuba diving.

Vama Veche

Traditional getaway of Bucharest’s bohemian intellectuals, who simply call it Vama, it is the antithesis of branded, commercial tourism and strives to keep capitalism at bay by keeping it all simple. A typical day in Vama features partying till sunrise, then going to your tent for a quick nap and later returning to the beach for the morning session, eating a fresh fish dish at one of the many terraces for lunch and then returning to the beach to doze off under an umbrella until late afternoon.

Short trip to the Danube Delta, UNESCO World Heritage Site

No beach vacation in Romania would be complete without a visit to the Danube Delta. Either a guided tour or a personal short day trip, this UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its outstanding marshlands, remote fishing villages, and incredible biodiversity makes for a fabulous travel experience. One of Europe’s largest and best preserved river deltas, the 4.500 km² natural reserve is home to fantastic landscapes, unforgettable sunsets, and more that 300 bird species, including swans, eagles, rare pelicans. Bird watching season runs from early spring to late summer. Traditional guesthouses and floating hotels greet guests with wonderful regional food and lots of authentic fish specialties. Tulcea, about two-hour drive from Constanța, makes an excellent starting point for exploring the Danube Delta.
