The administration of the Valea Jiului Energy Complex is preparing to make emergency hirings - many specialists will soon retire and the safety of work underground would be at risk. The company's income and expenditure budget has been approved and hiring procedures will begin shortly.
At present, Valea Jiului Energy Complex employs almost 2.000 people working at its four active mining operations and the Paroseni power plant, but many are reaching retirement age and are preparing to leave.
-: If all the people who would be covered by this law were to leave - there are more than 300 people - it would put the company in difficulty, because we are talking about 70-80% of people qualified in different trades.
Most of the expected hirings are for vacancies that don't require special qualifications, but the retirement of specialists whose training takes time, such as the category of artificers, could jeopardise job security.
Several hundred applicants have applied for the more than 300 jobs to be put out to tender, many of them former miners that need to complete their seniority in the underground.
