Aggressive people, who have a restraining order, are now better supervised. The electronic monitoring bracelets have been working since yesterday. They emit signals when the wearer approaches its victim.
The electronic monitoring computer system is currently operating in the city of Bucharest and in the counties of Iasi, Mures and Vrancea.
This is the first stage of the project to introduce a tool of this kind in Romania, and in three years it will be operational throughout the country.
Data from the General Police Inspectorate show that only in the first 8 months of this year, at national level, the number of criminal acts that included domestic violence increased by more than 13% compared to the similar period in 2021.
That means almost 37.000 such reported facts. About 15.400 protective orders are issued.
The use of electronic systems allows better assurance of compliance with these restrictions, for the benefit of protected people.
The device warns the supervised person if he violates the ban by entering an alert that is also sent to 112.
