The Superior Council of Magistracy discusses the proposals made by the Minister of Justice, Mona Pivniceru, for functions of Romanian General Prosecutor and chief prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate.
Proposals for the two functions were announced earlier this month by Minister Mona Pivniceru.
For general prosecutor of Romania function is proposed Tiberiu Nitu.
He has been Laura Codruţa Kövesi’s Prime Deputy for four years.
Tiberiu Nitu was appointed, in September 2011, Inspector within the Judicial Inspection of MSM in Muntenia, Oltenia, Dobrogea.
Tiberiu Nitu is 41 years old and began his career as a magistrate in 1995, at the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court of Ploiesti.
In his draft competition, prosecutor Tiberiu Nitu argued that the low efficiency of the system, the lack of uniformity in the exercise of leadership is the vulnerability of public ministry.
"Continuity" of DNA results
For the position of chief prosecutor of the National Anticorruption is proposed Prosecutor Irimie Ioan.
He has 58 years old and has dealt with many important cases, including that of former PDSR deputy, Gabriel Bivolaru, the Costesti and Stoeneşti miners files in 1999.
He received the Presidential Decree, "Judicial Merit" Diploma, Class II in 1995.
Within the draft contest, Ioan Irimie argues that to ensure continuity of DNA results, so that the Commission decides to cease the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism, it is necessary to demonstrate that DNA activity in Romania is strongly anchored in the sustainable and irreversible reform process and that external intervention is no longer necessary.
The notification of the Superior Council of Magistracy is advisory, the appointments being made by the President, proposed by the Minister of Justice.
