Constitutional Court to resume debates on first round of presidential elections

The Constitutional Court will resume debates on the validation of the first round of the presidential elections on Monday afternoon.

The judges are awaiting the completion of the vote recount process and may not reach a decision even on the first day after the parliamentary polls.

This is because all votes from abroad will not arrive in the country until December 3, according to the foreign ministry.

In most counties, the vote recounts are being conducted without observers.

Why, explains George Popescu, deputy spokesman for the Constanta County Electoral Office.

According to the legislation in force, there is no legal provision allowing observers or, I don't know, interested persons, the media, to be present at the recount operation.

In Ilfov, however, the non-governmental organization Expert Forum obtained in court the right to have observers at the County Electoral Office, where the votes are recounted.
