Certification Ceremony of the Finnish Air Force Detachment at Base 57 in Mihail Kogalniceanu

The certification ceremony of the Finnish Air Force detachment, which will execute with seven F-18 Hornet aircraft and together with the Romanian Air Force and the British Royal Air Force, Enhanced Air Policing missions under NATO command for about two months, took place today at the 57th Air Base "Captain Aviator Constantin Cantacuzino" in Mihail Kogalniceanu.
Minister of National Defence Angel Tilvar: "I would like to welcome to Romania the personnel of the Finnish Air Force detachment, on their first air policing mission in an allied country since the recent NATO accession. Your country's accession to the Alliance on 4 April 2023 marked a historic opportunity for NATO to become a stronger and more robust community and to ensure a more stable and secure Europe."
Also today, the official start of work on the new runway at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, the first military runway built in Romania after 1990, is scheduled to begin.
