Since Wednesday, the underground passages in Chitila and Ştefăneşti have been opened to traffic and starting mid-December the bridge in Tunari will also be inaugurated.
The Capital`s ring road building reached the midway point as the traffic on the northern section between Chitila and Voluntari (19 km) was opened.
The passage in Otopeni is almost finished and, weather permitting, the waterproof underlay will be installed and the passage could be opened on holidays.
The three kilometres long section between Chitila and Mogoşoaia were also inaugurated on Wednesday - the ring that would complete the bypass road.
On some road sections workers have installed concrete lane dividers and on the newly opened section the street lights are already functional.
The final reception will be performed in spring, but only after the uneven road sections where speed restrictions still apply are re-asphalted.
Funds are still being sought for for connecting the A1 highway with Chitila and Voluntari with the A2 highway, although the 14/15 kilometres should be finished by summer.
Instead, the South Ring Road remains a nightmare for all drivers because of the crossroads with no passages where traffic jams during the week.
For now, the only ones travelling are promises to widen the roads to four lanes and to built passages in Glina, Popeşti Leordeni or Domneşti.
